The KG Halli police on Saturday arrested a gang of five including a woman who used to lure businessmen offering cheap business deals and rob them through their associates who pose themselves as police personnel .
The accused has been identified as,Natarajan,50,from Vellore in Tamilnadu,Sadashiva Nayak,42,from
Chitradurga,Shivraj,32,Dillibon,25 and Nirmala,30,from Kolar district.
Senior officer told reporters,a complaint of cheating was registered in KG Halli police station in which a land surveyor stated that a five member gang including a women lured him of 8 lakhs promising him to get a goods vehicle in cheap rate and extrorted 8 lakhs by posing as cops.
Based on the complaint special teams were formed to nab the miscreants team headed by KG Halli police inspector, Santhosh Kumar L and his crime team swung into action.
The team visited the crime spot and collected evidence and details about the gang based on technical inputs the team zeroed in on one of the accused and took him into custody.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and based on his statement the team nabbed other four persons including a women and arrested them.
The accused revealed that Last week,the victim Rangaswamaiah took Rs.Eight lakh cash and met them.
While on the way,another team of accused posing as policemen intercepted the car,and accused them of carrying out illegal activities and assaulted them before taking away the cash and the car .
The accused took him around the the city in a car on the pretext of taking him to finalize the deal .
The accused through Rangaswamaiah like other would be scared and run away,but unlike others he approached the police and filed a complaint . Few accused had accompanied Rangaswamaiah even to the station .
Hearing the details of the incident, the police suspected their involvement analyzed their background and arrested them.
A detailed investigation by the team it has revealed that the accused are habitual offenders involved in similar criminal cases against them in several parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka .
The KG Halli police have recovered the car and the cash stolen from them and efforts are on to track down the other members of the gang who are on the run.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP East,A Subramanyeswara Rao,DCP East,Dr Bheemashankar S Guled,ACP,KS Jagadish,PI, Santhosh Kumar L,and his crime team for nabbing the notorious extrortion gang and recovered the stolen cash from them a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
