Four diesel thieves arrested by Jigani Police after shot at

The Jigani police opened fire at a gang of four diesel thieves who attacked police party in a bid to escape during the raid near KEB circle in the wee hours of Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Srinivasa Raju,50,from Peenya is leading a gang and stealing diesel from the parked trucks parked at Jigani Industrial Area.

Senior officer told media persons,On Sunday at around 5 am,the Jigani police received information that a gang of four persons was stealing fuel from vehicles parked on KEB junction .

A police team rushed there to nab the accused, but the gang attacked police party with a chopper.

In the melee Constable Kotesh sustained injuries .

In self defense Inspector Sudarshan who was at spot warned them and opened fire in the air and later shot at the accused injuring Raju while the police pin down another accused Mallanagowda, 52,resident of Garvebhavipalya.

The injured have been shifted to hospital while the police are on the lookout for the two other accused who are on the run.

We are verifying whether the accused are involved in other offences.A case is registered in Jigani police station, further investigation is on a police officer, said .
