Three including woman held over acid attack on drama artist in Bengaluru

The Nandini Layout police on Sunday arrested three persons including a woman who paid supari to attack her colleague with acid on her woman colleague to scuttle her professional growth.

The accused has been identified as,Swathi, Ramesh and Yogesh.

Senior officer told media persons,The victim Devi CM,51,resident of Ganesha block 6th cross was sleeping near the open window on the early hours of Thursday when an unidentified man slashed chemical on her through the window and escaped.

Devi woke up to the burning sensation on her face, back and hands and raised alarm prompting her family members to rush her to KC General hospital from she was referred to Victoria hospital where he is being treated.

Based on the medico legal case and suspected acid attack case,the Nandini Layout police swung into action and after verifying the CCTV footage and other investigation skills the team within few hours managed to arrest the accused identified as Yogesh.

During investigation the accused identified as,Yogesh confessed that he splashed chemical used to clean toilet on Devi,on the behest of Ramesh and Swathi.

Yogesh also said that he was paid money to do the job.

Based on his information the police arrested Ramesh and Swathi who confessed to the crime . The accused told the police that they are colleagues of Devi in a theatre company and were jealous of her .

DCP North Division,Vinayak Patil,said that the Victim and Ramesh,Swathi were working as drama artist’.

These two accused developed enmity with victim over personal issues.They conspired to throw acid on victim to damage her professionally.

They took help of third person as,Yogesh,who threw the liquid on victim when she was sleeping in her home.

Devi was working as conductor at BMTC and took VRS to join the drama troop where the accused were working.

She had a personal problem with the accused and also took away their roles.Enraged by this the accused conspired and hatched a plan to damage her face so that she could not be able to act.

Devi suffered over 20 per cent burn injuries and out of danger.The chemical recovered from Yogesh was sent to FSL lab for a detailed analysis,a case has been registered and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru police commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP,North,Vinayak Patil,ACP, KS Venkatesh Naidu,PI,Venkategowda and his team for nabbing the acid attack case accused within hours the incident reported and nabbed the accused before they get escaped a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
