CCB officials on Monday busted a web based crypto currency racket and arrested four persons who have collected crores of rupees from the investors since last one year offering higher returns for the purchase of Helium crypto tokens and escaped with the investment money.
The accused has been identified as, Rehmath Ali Khan,Imran Riyaz,Zabiulla Khan,Sheetal Besathwad.
Commissioner of police Kamal Pant, addressing media persons at his office said,Based on a complaint,a team of officials under the leadership of Raman Gupta Joint CP Crime,a team led by DCP, Crime-1,Dr SD Sharanappa,tracked down the accused and arrested them.
The police have recovered 17 crores worth valuables and also seized several mobile phones and laptops from the accused to ascertain their network and operations.
Pant said, the racket started during covid in 2021 when the accused launched Sharehash app in google play stores and started approaching people randomly on whatsapp and SMS, offering to sell helium crypto tokes and offered higher returns.
The accused had even lured investors to sell crypto mining machines which they could use to monitor the price and get alerts to receive mining rewards .
The accused have opened five different companies in and around the country to receive the deposits to the company’s account.
After receiving maximum deposits from thousands of investors who are educated and working in different fields,the accused withdrew the App from Google store stating that they will upgrade the app and release it soon,and escaped .
Based on a complaint the cyber crime police took up the case and arrested the accused and probing further with 44 bank account details belonging to the accused.
Finally Bengaluru Police commissioner Kamal Pant has appreciated, Joint CP Crime, Raman Gupta, DCP Crime-1, Dr SD Sharanappa,and his team as,Ashok BS,and his staff as,Sathish R,Arun Kumar,Sunil Belwatagi,and others has been appreciated for the exemplary and commendable job done by them and Lauding CCB efforts for cracking the case, city police commissioner Kamal Pant announced a reward of Rs 70,000 to the team.
