Developing Shiggaon Taluk as one of India’s textile and garments industrial hubs is my dream, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in his address after performing the Bhoomi Puja for a garments unit being set up by the Shahi Exports Group.
People of the State should get employment and lead a dignified life.A Textile Park is coming up in Shiggaon and Rs.29 cr has been sanctioned for the project.
About 8000–10,000 people would get employment by April-May next year in these units in Shiggaon constituency.
Just like Tiruppur, the garment industry has grown in a big way in Bengaluru,Shiggaon too should develop similarly,Bommai said.
An Industrial township has been planned in an area spread over 1000 acres in Haveri.Under the Mumbai-Chennai corridor project industrial townships would be developed in Belagavi, Haveri,Davangere,Chitradurga and Tumakuru.
An industrial revolution is happening. Work on a Mega Dairy has started in Haveri and Rs.30 cr has been granted for setting up Haveri Milk Federation,Bommai said.
Textile sector is the biggest job provider with immense potential to earn foreign exchange through exports,Bommai said and exhorted garment companies like Shahi Exports to set up more units in the State to boost the rural economy and provide employment to rural populace.
