Backward Classes Welfare department; CM wants selection of beneficiaries before July

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai wants selection of beneficiaries under various schemes of the Backward Classes Welfare department to be completed before the month of July.

The Chief Minister issued the instructions in this regard at the meeting to review progress in implementation of budget programmes of the department for the year
2022-23.

The highlights of the meeting are as follows.

* Start work on construction of well equipped buildings for 50 Kanakadasa student hostels.

* Selection of beneficiaries to be completed before the month of July.

* Increase expenditure on food to improve the quality of food in student hostels.

* Land identified for construction of Narayana Guru residential school. In the first phase school would be started with an allocation of Rs 5 Cr.

* Rs.50 cr grant has been provided for the Vokkaliga Development Corporation and it would be raised to Rs.100 cr. The Veerashaiva Development Corporation has a Rs.100 cr grant and an additional Rs.100 cr would be provided after spending the present available fund. Emergency meeting soon for setting up Kadu Golla Development Corporation.

* Rs.10cr for welfare programmes for the Kodava community.

* Immediate measures to start coaching for 50,000 students of backward classes, SC, ST communities for appearing in various competitive exams for government jobs.
