CM instructs setting up of Gomatha Cooperative Societies on experimental basis

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the officials to set up Gomatha Cooperative Societies on experimental basis at the State level to provide market access for cow based products.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the meeting to review the implementation of 2022-23 Budget programmes related to Animal Husbandry ministry.

Highlights of the meeting:

* Remodeling the veterinary clinics in rural areas. Approval granted for opening 50 veterinary hospitals in rented premises.

* Recruitment of JOC and Diploma candidates.

* Rs.20 cr grant for a mega dairy of one lakh litres in Haveri.

* Identify the locations for starting 70 new Goushalas.

* Start the portal under Punyakoti Cow adoption scheme before the end of June.

* Distribute 2000 cows of various breeds to farmers to protect and foster native cow breeds. A sum of Rs.4 cr has been provided for the purpose this year.

* Rs.5 lakh subsidy to build housing for shepherds and shelter for the sheep.
