Construction of 6500 classrooms at a cost of Rs.1000 cr; Work should start this year: CM instructs

Over 6500 classrooms would be built at an estimated cost of Rs.1000 cr. Construction work would start this year itself.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai issued the instructions in this regard at the meeting to oversee the implementation of Budget programmes for the year 2022-23 related to the Primary Education department.

Highlights of the meeting are as given below.

* All the budget programmes should be implemented in a time bound manner.

* About Rs.500 cr would be provided for development of infrastructure in government schools. Schools in aspirational taluks would get top priority.

* There are 32 aspirational taluks in KKRDB region and they would get first priority.

* Number of schools to be developed under the programme would be fixed constituency-wise.

* The schools to be built under the programme would have common colour painting and the buildings would be named.

* Meeting with companies to upgrade schools under CSR funding.

* Get services of Spoken English teachers, Lab staff and transport system under CSR scheme.

* Rs100 cr grant to purchase furniture for government high schools and PU colleges.

* New Syllabus from July this year in 20,000 anganwadis.

* Transport facility for students.Permission to purchase 4-5 buses for each taluk.
