Vijayawada: Police have arrested a man named Arunachalam from Chennai in connection with the Vijayawada drugs packet courier incident. DCP Mary Prashanti, who introduced the accused before the media today in connection with the recent incident of sending a drug called ephedrine to Australia by courier from the city, revealed the details. Arunachal, who was couriered from Vijayawada, was arrested in Chennai. Smuggled goods worth Rs 45 lakh were found being transported. The DCP said Arunachal would work in the Chennai Burma Bazaar. Four teams were formed and the accused was said to have been taken into custody.

“We warn courier companies to be careful. Gopi Sai Aadhaar used Arunachalam for forgery. Gopi Sai has lodged a complaint with the Vijayawada police against the Aadhaar forgery. Defendant Arunachal was arrested in a forgery case. Bangalore Customs officials are investigating the entire drugs case. Drugs were brought from Chennai and supplied by courier from Vijayawada. Sent only by courier from Vijayawada. We are investigating the role of the other two. We will no longer carry out inspections on courier offices from Vijayawada abroad. Vijayawada has been chosen as the courier from Chennai, ” DCP Mary Prashanthi explained.
