Razorpay Hacked! 7.3 Cr Stolen Via False Authorisation of 831 failed transactions by Hacker

The southeast cyber crime police are trying to track down a hacker who manipulated authorization process of a payment gateway company to authenticate 831 failed transactions approved and made away with Rs.7.3 crore within three months .

The incident came to light when the company officials (Razorpay Software Private Limited) auditing the transactions and unable to reconcile receipt of Rs.7,38,36,192 against 831 transactions.

The company (Razorpay Software Private Limited)provides online payment services and offer online platform that allows businesses to collect payments through credit cards,debit cards,net banking,and wallets.Razorpay Software serves clients in India.

Abhishek Abhinav Anand,Head of Legal Disputes and Law Enforcement at the company filed a complaint with the Southeast cyber crime police on Monday.

The police are now trying to track down the hackers based on online payment transactions .

The internal probe conducted by the company found that certain unknown hackers and fraudulent customers have tampered,altered and manipulated the ‘authorization and authentication process’ and as a result false altered communications as ‘approved were sent to Razorpay system against the 831 transactions, resulting in losses to a tune of Rs.7,38,36,192.

The company also provided the details of the 831 transactions along with date time and IP address,along with other relevant information for the police for further investigation.
