20-year-woman killed and her male friend severely injured when the duo accidentally fell from the window adjacent to the stairs on the second floor of a multi storeyed shopping complex on Brigade Road on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased is identified as Liya,a resident of Frazer Town studying B com at a private college and her friend identified as Chris Peter,a native of Andhra Pradesh had gone to the shopping complex to have snacks .
Senior officer visited the spot and after inspecting the spot and collecting preliminary information from the cubbon park police inspector, he said the incident occurred at around 1.20 pm.
The duo had gone to have juice at the food court in the complex.The victim had gone to the washroom and came out.
When they were walking on the stairs she lost balance and fell through the window.She was rushed to a nearby hospital, the doctors declared her brought dead.
The injured person admitted to ICU in a private hospital sustained multiple injuries .
The window didn’t have grills,so the window glass/fiber sheet broke and both slipped through the window and crashed on the ground
We suspect.
Peter tried to rescue his friend Liya when she slipped from the stairs, but he too lost balance and fell to the ground.
Cubbon park police have taken up a case and are awaiting Peter’s recovery to question him and we are verifying the CCTV footage to ascertain the cause of death.
