E very Indian should think about building a strong nation.India attained its independence with sacrifices by many.
People should preserve the country’s unity and independence, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating ‘Amrita Bharathige Kannadadhaarathi,” campaign as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Indian Independence.
India has attained independence after suffering centuries of oppression and occupation for over thousand years by Mughals and the British.
Prime Minister Modi is realising the aspirations of building a strong India.He is a statesman with a vision for the next generation,Bommai said.
Contribution of Kannadigas for the nation
Kannadigas are progressive thinkers.The State government is working with the motto of building New Karnataka for New India.
Karnataka would make a huge contribution in realising Modi’s objective of making India a $5 Trillion economy,Bommai said.
Kannadigas have played a major role in the fight for independence.From Kittur Rani Chennamma to Mylara Mahadevappa,Sangolli Rayanna figure prominently among them,Bommai said.
Veer Savarkar,a brave leader
Recalling the history of the freedom movement, Bommai said, Lokamanya Tilak and Veer Savarkar initiated the movement which gathered strength in the years later.
Savarkar was incarcerated in the Cellular jail of Andaman and Nicobar.Savarkar was a brave leader like Tilak who declared ‘Freedom is my birthright,’ Bommai said.
