The High grounds police arrested three persons claiming to be members of a local organization for assaulting farmer leader Rakesh Tikait with ink while he was addressing a press conference .
The accused Bharath Shetty,Pradeep and Shivakumar were arrested.
Senior officer told reporters,after the incident the team verified the CCTV footage and arrested the accused and charging them under wrongful confinement,assault,mischief and criminal intimidation.
The accused have been produced before the court and taken into custody for further investigations.
Initial probe revealed that the accused confessed that they had attacked Mr.Tikait for not speaking in Kannada,but the police suspect that they have grudge against him for many reasons,which needed to be probed and ascertained,a police officer, said.
Meanwhile Home minister,Araga Jnanendra, condemned an incident,in which a miscreant threw black ink on the face of the farmer leader Rakesh Tikait,today.
Speaking to reporters,the Home Minister while condemning the incident said that the culprits, have been taken into custody by the police and investigating into the incident.
Maintaining that,the attempt to hurt physically on the farmer leader was inhuman and savage act, the minister said that, accused will be dealt with stringent action.
Refuting that the accused were BJP sympathisers the minister said the miscreants were not the party workers and they,out of the blue,barged towards the Tikait while he was addressing the media conference in the garb of journalists.
Referring to KPCC president DK Shivakumar’s accusation on the BJP over the incident the minister said that Congress leaders charges are unfounded and malicious”.
The Congress leaders who are increasingly frustrating to see that, people are deserting from them, are resorting to blame the state government,he said.
