CM Bommai confident of Union Govt. declaring Upper Bhadra as a National Project

Expressing his confidence in the Union government declaring Upper Bhadra as a National Project,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the Union cabinet is likely to approve the Rs.13,000 cr project soon.

The credit for this should go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister in his address after launching a slew of development works including construction of a bridge across the backwaters of Vanivilas Sagar reservoir and a Drip Irrigation.

Project in Hosadurga said,the farmers were convinced to give up their lands for the Upper Bhadra project with the state government making special grants to pay them compensation,many hurdles for the project were overcome after relentless efforts aking to the legendary Bhagirath,who brought Ganges to the earth, Bommai said.

The solid in the region is fertile and the drip irrigation project would help prosperity to bloom over 34,000 hectares.

Work has been initiated for a modern bridge connecting Bevinahalli to Hunasekatte village across the backwaters of Vanivilasa Sagara Dam at a cost of Rs.136 cr. Similarly work has been started to fill 75 irrigation tanks in the region, Bommai said.
