The 23rd city civil and session court which is also special court for cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act convicted a cooperative officer on Monday sentencing him with five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.20,000.
The convicted officer,HP.Sadashiva,was trapped red handed by the ACB officials while accepting a bribe of Rs.7,500 for an official favour of registering the association of a flat owners on August 2017 .
The accused had demanded Rs.10,000 from the members of Dhanushri Apartment Owners Association who had applied for registration.
Unable to pay the bribe the members approached the ACB and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint,a team of officials trapped Sadashiva red handed while accepting the bribe.
The officials booked him under PC act, completed the investigation and filed a charge-sheet before the court on September 2018 .
Public Prosecutor Santosh Nagarale argued the case to take it to the logical conclusion and ensure the accused officer get maximum punishment.
