Bengaluru Division Observes International Level Crossing Awareness Day

angaluru Division of the South Western Railway (SWR)conducted a week long awareness campaign in connection with International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) on 9th June, 2022,under the guidance of Shyam singh, Divisional Railway Manager,Bengaluru Division.

Divisional safety team along with Scouts and guides,Traffic Police,RPF interacted with road users,School Children and bus drivers and Auto drivers near LC Gates.

They also interacted at Panchayat offices,RTO offices,Petrol bunks and at Market places,during the course of the campaign.

It counseled the public to follow the safety precautions while using level crossing gates.

Awareness programmes were also aired by All India Radio and FM Radio to educate public to be cautious at Level Crossing gates.

The team advised the Public not to cross the Railway tracks at Level crossings when the gates are closed for road traffic.

They were also advised not to use mobile and ear phones while passing through the level crossings.

Skits were organized near LC Gates.Banners and safety posters were displayed near Level Crossings and at Railway Stations.

Hand bills were distributed to the public on safety precautions to be followed while using level crossing gates.

The campaign concluded today (09.06.2022) with a skit enacted by Scouts and Guides at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station.

Shyam Singh,Divisional Railway Manager,Smt. Kusuma Hariprasad,Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Admin),K.V. Gopinath,Sr.Divisional Safety Officer and others were present on the occasion.

There are no Unmanned Level Crossings over Bengaluru division.Safety at Level Crossings is one of the focus areas of Indian Railways.

Efforts are being taken to eliminate Level Crossings by construction of Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges where Train Vehicle Units (TVUs) are more than 1 Lakh.Limited Height Sub Ways are constructed for gates with lesser TVUs.
