Conman posing as Judge trying to cheat people offering to sell gift card vouchers booked

The High court registrar Administration,MC Chandrashekhar on behalf of High court Judge B. Veerappa has filed a complaint with the central cyber crime police asking to track a conman who posing as judge trying to cheat people offering to sell gift card vouchers .

Based on the complaint,the police have registered an FIR against the unknown person on Saturday charging him under section 66C (fraudulently or dishonestly make use of the electronic signature,password or any other unique identification feature of any other person) of the IT act and efforts are on to trace him.

The incident came to light when the accused using his mobile with the DP of the judge sent message to the mobile of the Assistant secretary of Karnataka state Legal Service Authority,asking him to buy the gift vouchers and brought it to the notice of the concerned authorities .

The police are now trying to track down the accused through the mobile phone he was using.

It may be recalled that in June this year,conman copied the name and photograph of Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekhar Kambar,the president of Sahitya Akademi,to send messages to his friend list using a mobile number.

The accused was asking for financial help from Kambar’s friends and also asking them to buy Amazon gift vouchers.The south cyber crime police are probing this case .
