Indian Coast Guard Rescue 15 Syrian Nationality Mariners in Distress aboard off Karnataka Coast

n a prompt and swift Search and Rescue (SAR) Mission,Indian Coast Guard has saved precious lives of 15 Syrian nationality mariners from a foreign flag ship MV Princess Miral which ran aground off New Mangalore on 21 Jun 2022.

The SAR mission was coordinated by Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Vikram’ and Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Amartya’ by braving the rough weather condition.

The crew of the grounded vessel has abandoned the ship due to breech in hull and ingress of water in holds.

The vessel was bound for Lebanon from Malaysia.

The successful operation and seamless coordination of Maritime Search and Rescue in the Indian Search and Rescue Region by ICG Units reaffirms ICGs capabilities as nodal agency for M-SAR in the Indian Ocean Region.

The operation strengthens ICGs commitment through its motto We Protect.
