Kidnap bid fails Auto driver and his girlfriend arrested by Avalahalli police

The Avalahalli police arrested a 20-year-old Autorickshaw driver from KR Puram who along with his girlfriend attempted to kidnap a 6-year-old boy for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh.

The police swung into action and arrested the accused identified as Shaktivelu,20 and his female friend Sunitha,30,who worked as sales girl at a apparel store in the outskirt of the city .

K.Vamshi Krishna,Superintendent of Police,told reporters that the accused used to work in the house of Manoj kumar to pick up and drop children from school and realized that the family has lot of money.

The accused was alcoholic and into other vices and wanted money .

He ganged up with Sunitha and hatched a plan to kidnap Sai Akshith,to extort money from Manoj Kumar.

As per the plan the duo took a car on rent and intercepted the van where Akshith was returning home in a van on Thursday.

The accused attacked the driver,Basha and attempted to kidnap Akshith,but they failed as Basha resisted and raised alarm for help.

While Akshith reached home safely and Basha complained to the police,the accused in few hours later called Manoj Kumar demanding a ransom of Rs.5 lakh and threatened to kidnap Akshith if money is not paid .

The police swung into action and on the pretext of delivering the ransom,arrested the duo within seven hours .

The accused have been booked under attempt to kidnap,assault and criminal intimidation and further investigation is on.
