The HAL police on Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old security guard of an apartment who killed a MBA graduate mistaking him as thief in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as,Shyamnath Ree,residing in Security Room situated at the groundfloor of Vanshee Citadel Apartment in Marathalli .
Ree told the police that it was around 2 am he noticed an unidentified man jumped the gate and trying to get into the apartment complex.
Ree confronted him questioned him but instead of replying to security the man ignored him continue walking into the apartment .
Thinking that he is a thief Ree attacked him with iron rod found at the corner.
A severe blow on the head rendered the man profusely bleeding and collapsed on the ground.
Ree raised alarm prompting the apartment residence to rush to his help and found a man lying dead in a pool of blood.
The HAL police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem and detained Ree for questioning .
Upon inquiry the police found that the deceased is not a thief but an MBA graduate from Odisha who had come with his friends for an internship in the city a few days ago .
Further inquiry revealed that the deceased Abhinash,was staying in an apartment and on the fateful night he was drunk and got into a wrong apartment in an inebriated state.
Since he was wearing tea shirt and shorts,Ree mistook him as thief and attacked him with iron rod,thinking that he would lose the job,if he did not stop the suspect venturing into the apartment.
Ree has been booked for murder and taken into custody for further investigations.
