Tenders to be finalised soon for cold storage in Vijayapura: CM Bommai

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the officials to complete the tender process at the earliest for setting up cold storage facilities at Thoravi village in Vijayapura district in a public private partnership model.

The Chief Minister on Friday chaired a meeting of Karnataka Grape and Wine Board and the department of Horticulture.

About 1 lakh tons of grapes is being produced in Vijayapura and surrounding areas.There is a need to increase the storage capacity.

Action should be taken to provide loans under the National Horticulture Mission for Grape Growers Cooperatives.

Greater support should be extended for branding and export of resins and other grape products, Bommai said.

The Chief Minister also said that cargo handling facilities would be provided at the Vijayapura airport being built to help the export of these products.
