he Southeast Division police of Electronic City police on Thursday cracked a clueless major jewellery shop dacoity case in Electronics City in a matter of 72 hours,and arrested a group of robbers from Chittorgarh,Rajasthan,after a filmi chase and facing bullets from the gang.
Senior officer told reporters,Two people,in the guise of customers, entered Ramdev Jewellers, Mylasandra,on July 4 morning,when an employee had opened the shop.
They threatened him with a pistol,took him to the safe locker,and tied him up.
Soon, two more entered the store,and they made away with Rs.1.58 crore worth of gold ornaments.
The thieves also took away the phone of the employee, and the digital video recorder of the CCTV cameras,leaving no immediate lead from the scene of the crime.
Senior officers as,DCP, Southeast,CK Baba with ACP,Electronic City,AB Sudhakar,PI,Nanjegowda with other PIs,rushed to spot and the team inspected the spot and collected information from the employee of the shop who said them that the four member gang were speaking in Hindi and are said to be from North India.
After collecting information the a special team was formed by DCP,Southeast,CK Baba,ACP,AB Sudhakar,PIs,as,Nanjegowda,Rajesh LY, Chandrakant LT,Sandeep and PSIs,of Southeast division with crime staff swung into action.
The team consisting of One PI,PSI and crime staff were sent to different states in search of the gang.
The team circulated their pics across states to Rajasthan, Ahmedabad Gujarat police during search the Ahmedabad police and Rajasthan police informed the Bengaluru police that they have noticed the dacoits a team of officers were rushed to kota.
A joint operation was carried by kota Rajasthan police they noticed the group of dacoits passing in car the team followed them in the melee the accused even opened two rounds of bullet firing on the cops but they managed to escape.
After getting additional help as force was called in the team getting back up immediately blocked the way of their vehicles and apprehended all the four after a dramatic chase in filmi style and arrested them.
Another officer said,Using technical inputs, the police traced the gang to Rajasthan.After reaching the state,with the help of the police there,the team from Bengaluru tracked down the gang in Chittorgarh district.
When they went to arrest the robbers, the latter began shooting at the police vehicle, and fled from the scene.
The police conducted a joint operation after a filmi chase over 3 km,four members of the gang were arrested.
A fifth member had taken his share of the bounty and is at large,the police said.
Most of the stolen jewellery,and two pistols and three bullets have been recovered.All four,who have been arrested,have several pending cases of house burglary,robbery,and dacoity in Rajasthan and Bengaluru.
The prime accused had been running a hardware shop in Hulimavu in Bengaluru and massive hunt is on.
