Police have registered a case of death due to negligence against the organizers and coach of kick boxing competition after a 23-year-old kickboxer died during a match held at Jnanabharathi campus on Sunday.
Senior officer told reporters,Based on the complaint filed by Suresh P,the Jnanabharathi police registered a case of death due to negligence against coach Naveen Ravishankar and organisers on Wednesday.
Suresh,a retired private firm employee from Mysuru,in his complaint said that his younger son Nikhil S had participated in the competition organised for two days by Rapid fitness gym on 5th floor of Pai International building in Jnanabharathi camps .
On Sunday at around 6 pm,Mrs.Suresh received a phone call that Nikhil has been shifted to hospital after he was injured during a competition.
Nikhil was taken to GM hospital in Nagarabhavi from where he was shifted to Manipal hospital in Yashwanthpur where he succumbed to his injuries.
Mr.Suresh in his complaint alleged lack of medical facilities at the venue led to the tragic incident.
According to him Nikhil who fell on the ground after he was punched by his opponent,sustained head injury due to thin sponge mat .
The unconscious Nikhil was carried from 5th floor to down floor and taken in a Bolero car unscientifically led to further deteriorate the situation.
There was no emergency medical care at the venue,no para medical staff,no oxygen facility, stretcher or ambulance available,Mr.Suresh said in his compliant.
Adding to the worst the organizer of the matches Naveen Ravishankar has not responded and switched off his phone and now he is absconding.
The incident is due to sheer negligence of the organizers and legal action should be initiated against them,he reiterated .
Vikram,coach of the Nikhil S,said,last rites held in Mysuru on Wednesday evening.Nikhil’s father Suresh is also a martial arts player and now a coach.
Nikhil trained at Vikram Martial Arts Academy at Krishnamurthypuram in Mysuru.Worked in a private firm and was a keen sportsman.
Family wants to initiate legal proceedings against the organizers for alleged negligence in ensuring basic medical facilities while conducting combat sports event which carries an element of risk.
A case has been registered in Jnanabharathi police station against the organizers under death due to negligence and further investigation is on.
