engaluru police sounded alert and stepped up vigil after two parked cars were set on fire in separate incidents in Shanthi Nagar near ED office and another in Sheshadripuram on Thursday.

As many as 11 detained checking to which organisation they belong and also efforts are on to trace the owner of the car,a senior police officer,said.

However six has been arrested in Wilson garden and Seshadripuram case where two bikers carrying petrol in plastic bottle poured it at the back seat of the parked car and set fire before speeding away.

Police termed the incident as creating fear psychosis among the people and stepped up vigil to monitor and law and order situation.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, C H Pratap Reddy with Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil rushed to the spot and after inspecting the area commissioner said we will act tough on those who are involved in the burning of car our team is working on it.

Meanwhile in the evening DCP Central,Srinivas Gowda addressing media persons here said that,The Wilson Garden police arrested five congress workers for setting fire to a car in broad day light during a protest at Shanthi Nagar bus stand on Thursday .

Preliminary investigations revealed that the protestors had brought the car before the protest and set it on fire, a senior police officer part of the investigation,said .

However in Sheshadripuram case,the police are yet to make any arrest and trying to track down the accused who came on a bike and poured petrol and set it on fire before fleeing the spot.

The police have towed away the car after dousing the fire and trying to track down the owner .

In both the cases,strict action would be taken which including rioting,creating public nuisance and protesting without permission,a police officer,said.

Meanwhile the Upparpet police had detained the senior congress leaders trying to break the barriers at freedom park to march towards Rajbhavan,were released later .

On Firday the City police said they have taken up a Car burning case seriously and DCP,central division,Srinivas Gowda has been assigned to probe the matter.

The police are probing to ascertain the brain behind the incident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had planned to set fire to cars near ED office and another at CMs residence.

Since there was tight security at CM’s residence it was decided to set the car on fire near Nehru circle in Seshadripuram.

The accused are congress party workers of shantinagar constituency living in and around viveknagar and Anepalya.

The accused have carried the attack on the instructions of their leader who is in the dock.

Meanwhile Mohammad Haris Nalpad admitted that the car belongs to youth congress workers who in agitation has burn their own car to show their strength and support to Sonia Gandhi he said.
