Abhijit Ray, Kolkata: The Alipur Courtordered the hanging of Shobhan Sarkar who was found guilty of brutally murdering his parents. Chiranjit Bhattacharya, Additional District and Sessions Judge No. 15 of Alipore Court announced this sentence. He sentenced thirty-year-old Shobhan Sarkar, a resident of Talpukur Road under Thakurpukur police station, South Kolkata to death.The Judge sentenced him to seven years imprisonment under Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code for tampering with evidence and death sentence under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Hearing the verdict, the killer son shouted “Save me” in the courtroom.On the same day after the verdict, Shobhan was taken from the courtroom to the lock-up of the court under tight security. Around 8 pm, he was taken to the special cell for death row convicts at Dum Dum Central Correctional Facility.His lawyer said that they will challenge the verdict of the lower court and go to the high court. Akbar Ali Molla, the public counsel in this case, said that the incident was on July 15, 2013. Shatordhava Pareshnath Sarkar (father) and Usharani Sarkar (mother) were killed with a knife in cold blood. Then two bodies are stuffed in a big plastic bag and sewn together. On July 17, he asked two men to dig two big holes in the garden of the house. Neighbors are suspicious of these acts.They knocked on the door of the housebut Shobhan did not open the door. Later the police came and broke down the door and found blood lying around. Sobhan was arrested. He admitted the whole incident during the interrogation. A blood-stained knife was also recovered from the garden. Forensic experts said that the murder was done with this knife. Bail applications were rejected several times during the case.On this day, South 24 Parganas Government Counsel Shivnath Adhikari told reporters that this incident is cruel, horrible and like shaking the society.We demanded extreme punishment from the court. Considering all aspects, the sentence given by the court is satisfactory. Investigating officer Prosenjit Naskar said that the charge sheet was submitted after completing the investigation within the specified time. A total of 20 witnesses were given. Basically, the parents repeatedly warned the son to stay away from the greed and greed of property. On the other hand, he was angry with his parents over the division of property. Sobhan took the extreme path of killing his parents in that anger.
