The Basavanagudi police on Monday arrested a two habitual offenders who had robbed a 36-year-old engineer while he was returning home after visiting his new born baby.
The accused has been identified as,Jameel Khan and Junaid,are habitual offenders from Mysuru addicted to online gambling.
Senior officer told reporters,a 36 year old engineer filed a complaint with Basavanagudi police stating that he was robbed by two bike borne miscreants who pretend to be accident victim and robbed his 40,000 rupess while he was returning home from Malleswaram after visiting his new born baby.
Based on complaint a special team headed by PI,Subramanyaswamy ML and his team swung into action after collecting information and with technical evidence the team nabbed the duo.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it was revealed the accused are addicted to gambling and would come to city whenever they need money and target people driving expensive cars alone and rob them.
On Sunday the accused confronted Sanath Shastry from Malleshwaram at Tagore underpass while he was returning home after visiting his newborn baby .
The accused alleged that he knock down their bike injuring one of them.The accused assaulted Sanath and forced him to withdraw Rs.40,000 on the pretext of treatment and escaped .
A detailed investigation by the team it is revealed that the accused has committed similar offences in Bengaluru,and Srirangapattana near Mysuru and further investigation is on to ascertain their criminal background.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,C H Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP West, Sandeep Patil,DCP South,P Krishnakant,ACP,KV Srinivas,PI,Subramanyaswamy ML and his team as,PSI,Hariprasad and staff as,Ashok,Balaram Nayak,Srinivas,Shivalingappa,Srishaila,Naveen HD and Hanumesh Metti,and others has been appreciated for the meticulous investigation done by them in nabbing the duo who used to pretend as vicitm and rob innocents a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
