Special provisions & concessions for Bhovi community to pursue their traditional vocation: CM

S uitable amendments would be brought for the Environment Laws to enable the Bhovi community to pursue their traditional vocation. They would get special concessions as well, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Chief Minister in his address at a function to celebrate the DiamondJubilee of Shivayogi Sri Siddarameshwara Rath Mahotsav said,there are many legal impediments for the Bhovi community to pursue their traditional vocation.

I have noticed the harassment from the officials. Amendments to the existing laws would be brought in the next legislature session to provide special concessions for their traditional vocation.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to eradicate social and economic inequalities.The downtrodden should be uplifted through special welfare programmes.I am aware of the plight of the Bhovi community,he said.

Action Plan

We have provided a grant of Rs.107 cr for the development of the Bhovi community.An action plan is being formulated for this purpose.

The chairman for the Bhovi Development Corporation would be appointed soon,Bommai said.

The Chief Minister was full praise for the contribution of Siddarameshwara Swamiji in building irrigation tanks and taking up welfare programmes.
