Insurance company exposed the fake registration of commercial vehicles racket in various RTOs complaint filed

Associate Director of a General insurance company has filed a complaint with the Southeast cyber crime police seeking probe against as many as 225 fake registration of commercial vehicles in various RTOs in and around the city.

The fraud came to light when the company was probing an insurance claim made by a policy holder and found that that not only the policy was fake but also the registration details submitted to the company was also fake Mr. KJ Jinson,resident of Somasundarpalya in his complaint to the police said.

According to him the company has around two lakh insurance policies issued online through company’s website and mobile app.

However someone misusing the technical loopholes in the website and app got fake insurance policies to apply for the claim.

The racket came to light during the probe and also found that the vehicle insurance registered at the RTOs across the city were also fake .

Mr.Jinson further said that this racket is prevalent across the country for illegal gain.

The Cyber crime police have registered a case of cheating and also under various sections of IT act against unknown persons and began the probe and gathering documents of the claims made and also sought details from the RTOs about the vehicle registered.

It may be recalled that the Koramangala police on Last Saturday arrested BK Ravishankar,the suspended clerk of Koramangala RTO for pocketing the taxes he had collected during his service .

Ravishankar has been booked as accused no.9 in the FIR registered at Cottonpet police station in a drug scandal involving film stars,DJs and other VIPs.

Ravisankar was arrested and after he was out on bail,the police arrested him again under cheating, forgery and criminal breach of trust against him.

The accused Ravishankar had sold his SUV to Nagendra Rao who in turn sold the vehicle to Devarajaiah,68,a retired teacher of Tumkur for Rs. 16 lakh in September last year .

When Devarajaiah had applied for registration of vehicle with Tumakuru RTO,the officials checked the documents and found that the vehicle has life time tax due of Rs.8.02 lakh .

Shocked Devarajaiah when went to the RTO and submitted the tax payment receipt,the officials found that it was fake.

Based on the complaint,the RTO officials probed and concluded that Ravishankar,who was clerk with Koramangala RTO had issued fake tax payment receipt to pocket the money.

Further inquiries reveal that he colluding with other officials had committed similar offences many a times before .

The Koramangala police have now sought the details of the records for further investigations.
