Abhijit Ray, Kolkata.West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee made several announcements today 1st September -Police Day. She announced that the maximum age limit for recruitment of police constables has been increased from 27 to 30 years. Police SI, ASI and constables used to get uniform kits till now. Will get uniform allowance from next financial year. Inspectors will get 10 thousand rupees, Sub inspectors will get seven and a half thousand, Assistant Sub inspectors will get six thousand and Constables will receive five thousand rupees. The police force has already received the uniform kit and thisyear, money will be given for the maintenance of the outfit.The deadline for recruitment of constable posts has increased. The salary of contract drivers of Kolkata Police has been increased to 13,500 rupees. In case of West Bengal Police, it is Rs.15,000. Besides, Police, Civil Defense, Civic Volunteers could apply up to 27 years for promotion. It was increased to 35 years.Mamata Banerjee also announced age relaxation for constables, civil defense, civic police, rural police. They could apply for promotion up to 27 years. It was increased to 35. Sub-Inspector, Inspector- whose promotion is on hold, will be given promotion. The rules of this promotion will be the same everywhere from Kolkata to the district. The chief minister also said that those police personnel who have completed more than 15 years of service will be given the opportunity to serve in their own district. That means they can be posted in their own district.On this day, she also said, ‘There was a disparity between the salaries of contract drivers, Calcutta Police and West Bengal drivers. Earlier Kolkata police drivers got 11,500 and state police drivers got 13,500. The Chief Minister has ordered that the Kolkata Police will be 13,500 and the State Police will be 15,000. Besides, it has also been informed that those who work as contractual drivers will be given some opportunities if they appear for the test in the coming days.
