DG CID issues order restrict his officers from night travel on duty to ensure safety of police personnel

In order to ensure safety of police personnel, Director General of Criminal Investigation Department has brought in new rules to restrict his officers from night time travel while on duty.

The decision was taken taking a note on the recent freak accident where three persons including PSI,constable attached to Shivaji Nagar and Driver of the cab they were travelling, killed and two others injured while persuing an accused in NDPS case in Andhra Pradesh.

As per the new rules officials all the CID units have been restricted from travelling between 10 pm to 6 am while on official duty.

The unit heads have been instructed to consider this and implement the order.

As per the National crime record bureau statistics as many as 427 police personnel were killed in road accident while on official duty.

Most of them were travelling on official duty across the country in 2021 so far.
