The Whitefield cyber crime police are on trying to track down a person who created an email account in the name of Flipkart CEO to send mails to the customers seeking details.
Based on a complaint filed,Rajesh K,employee of the company on behalf of CEO the police have registered an FIR charging the accused under various sections of the IT act on Tuesday.
In his complaint Mr.Rajesh said that the email id-dare2dream640@mail.com and mailed it to the company’s customers posing as CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy and seeking details earlier this month .
The incident came to light when one of the customer cross checked with the company.This is to tarnish the image of the company,Rajesh said in his complaint seeking police help to trace.
The police who initiated a probe said that the fake email sent to the customers was generated from Nigerian.
We are trying to track down the person through other technical details,a senior officer part of the probe,said.
It may be recalled that similar incident was reported in 2016 where email id in the name of the then chief executive officer (CEO) of Flipkart, has been spoofed by hackers to swindle 80,000 USD from the company’s account.
