The Yelahanka new town police on Monday arrested a 27-year-old rowdy-sheeter and his wife for robbing a car and a mobile phone from a cab driver on September 5.
The accused Manjunath and Vedavathy, according to the police have booked a cab and took the driver around the city and befriended him on the way .
They trio stopped for a dinner at a bar and restaurant in Yelahanka new town and offered the driver Shivashankar liquor.
When the driver passed out after a couple of drinks,the couple took the car key and his mobile phone and sped away.
The incident came to light when Shivashaknar woke up to find the couple along with the car was missing.
Based on the complaint, the police track down the couple and arrested and recovered car and two mobile phones from them.
The accused Manjunath had as many as 16 criminal cases pending against him. He wanted a cab to take his wife around the city and hence jacked the car,a police officer, said.
