CID submits 1,406-page chargesheet against former ADGP Paul in PSI Recruitment Scam

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the PSI recruitment scam,filed additional charge-sheet against Amrit Paul,Former Additional Director General of Police (recruitment division),receiving over a crore of rupees from the candidates to help them clear exam through fraudulent means.

The charge-sheet containing 1,406 pages with 78 documents and 38 statements of witnesses highlight his role in the scam,conspiracy to carry it out and collection of money from aspirants of posts of sub-inspectors through his staff and also through one of his neighbour residing in Sahakaranagar.

Investigations carried out by the CID team as mentioned in the charge sheet revealed that the accused who had allegedly received a cut of Rs. 1.35 crore from candidates to PSI posts had given away the money to his neighbour Shambhulinga Swamy.

The CID had seized Rs.41 lakh from him and recorded his statement which will be used against Paul .

Amrit Paul,who worked as ADGP of Recruitment department, had allegedly allowed his junior DySP Shanthakumar and team to tamper the OMR sheets of the candidates who paid him , after disconnecting the CCTV cameras installed at the strong room.

The CID officials have recorded the statement of the staff of the recruitment division and also awaiting FSL report about the mobile phone data and other documents seized during the search conducted at Paul’s residence.
