Vitality of the democracy and symbol of victory: CM Bommai
There is opportunity for everyone in democracy. A person from a tribal community reaching the post of President will indicate the vitality of democracy and the symbol of victory.
Through this the dignity and greatness of democracy has been upheld,said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking at ‘Civic Reception’ for President Droupadi Murmu in Vidhana Soudha here on Tuesday, the CM said she was cleaning a temple in her hometown when Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested her name for the President’s post.
She hasn’t changed even after becoming the first citizen of the nation.Having such a President will speak volumes about humanity and impact the society and every Indian.Her simplicity, commitment and innocence will guide them.
An epitome of humanity
He said India is the best nation having a number of languages,religion,population but a socially and economically developing nation.They were making miracles through scientific innovations and making rapid strides in internal and external research.
Development is at its peak in time of changing. What they require is the development of humanity.They have President Droupadi Murmu in the form of humanity.We are blessed to have her in the city of science and knowledge and feeling to felicitate her on behalf of the whole state.
Special programme
Terming today’s function as rare, Bommai said such an unique programme had never happened in the history of Karnataka and the State Legislature.
Offering respect to the first citizen of the nation is laudable.The President has a very good opinion about Bengaluru and wanted to visit Bengaluru first after the election.
She remembered the hospitality of Kannadigas and the culture of treating the guests with utmost respect.For this reason, she immediately accepted the government’s invitation to open Mysuru Dasara-2022.
The President has in-depth knowledge and experience on various aspects of the country. She is fully aware of changes in the lives of tribals and their culture since she had suffered pain in her life.Blessed with human values, Droupadi started her career as teacher, vice-president of Municipality,legislator,Minister and later worked as Jharkhand Governor for five years.
She had done a lot of development work for the girl children in Jharkhand which has the maximum number of tribal population.
After completing five years as the governor, she resumed her teaching profession.Despite being in power for many years,her human values have remained unchanged and this shows her greatness,he added.
Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot,Union Ministers, Shobha Karandlaje,A.Narayanaswamy,State Legislative Council Chairman Raghunath Rao Malkhapure and others were present.
