T
he Government must respond to any decisions done by society in democracy and the incumbent State Government has responded to it,said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking after being felicitated by the pontiffs of various mutts of SC/ST communities in the wake of hike in reservation for the communities here on Saturday,he said the work which was pending for many days, has happened.
The pontiffs are given the highest respect and importance in Indian culture and it was seen in all the societies.
Vibrant Constitution ;
“The Constitution given by Dr B.R.Ambedkar is the most vibrant Constitution and has allowed to make amendments and include schedule in the Constitution.
Dr Ambedkar had opined that the Constitution must respond whenever changes happen economically,socially,culturally and economically. And for this reason, he wrote a responsive Constitution.
At the time of writing the Constitution there were only six castes in SC/ST and consequent to inclusion of new communities the population increased.
We have seen inordinate delay, hesitancy and postponement nature to ensure social justice for SC/ST communities in Karnataka.It gained strength after all the seers fought united for this cause.
The Justice Nagamohan Das Commission was formed when the ST community seers did padayatra seeking reservation.The commission was given only six months of time which was not at all sufficient.
But Justice Das sought more time and has given an excellent report after going through what has happened in other States? What the Constitution says. Subsequently, the Justice Subhash Adi Commission was formed regarding the implementation of the Justice Das Committee report.
Justice Adi Panel has given a report saying that reservation can be increased beyond 50 per cent by treating it as a special case.This has helped the government to take such a historic decision”, Bommai said.
He said any change will not be easy as there will be a lot of challenges.But they will see a new road only if they take a bold step.
Nothing happened all these days just by sitting and guessing.We are committed to find solutions to all the challenges.Henceforth,even the opportunity denied and oppressed classes will get justice”.
All previous governments had neglected our demands.The present CM Basavaraj Bommai has taken a bold step.He has displayed the social concern like his father.
