The Kalasipalya police on Monday arrested a 40-year-old Matka operator running the racket across the city unabated .
The accused identified as Senthil alias market senthil was caught based on a tip off from a local news channel about Senthil running the racket across the city.
Based on the information,the Kalasipalya police raided a shop on AM road and arrested Senthil .
The accused have nine cases pending against him and operating matka across the city through his punters,a senior officer,said.
However the police are found clueless about him until the news channel aired his story and the area of his operations,prompting the police to crack the whip .
Senthil has been booked under KP act and taken into custody for further investigations.
Matka is a simple lottery-style betting game which involves guessing two random numbers. This gambling is popular among the labourers in market areas .
The gambling is run by goons operating through their associates mostly work as punters to receive betting amount and distribute prize money.
The betting runs into lakhs and the local police and dedicates wings of the city police often fails to track down.
