Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:Chief Minister Mamata’s conflict with JagdeepDhankar during his tenure as the Governor of Bengal is well known. He is now the Vice President of India. Now Jagdeep Dhankar again in the headlines about political violence in Bengal. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar came out against political violence in Bengal at the function of National Human Rights Commission. He reveals that West Bengal is one of the states where politics is a motive for violence in most of the cases. He also said that political turmoil like Bengal should not happen in any other state and violence is not desirable anywhere.Senior politicians are surprised to hear the condemnation of a state by a person holding a constitutionally high office like the Vice President’s. According to a senior leader of the Trinamool Congress, Dhankar had functioned more like a leader of the BJP but not as the Governor of Bengal. He is amember of the RSS. Now Dhankaris again repeating the same and performing like a BJP Leader but not as VicePresident. He is insulting the post of Vice President. On the other hand, the opposition has pointed out that earlier, Trinamool indirectly supported the BJP candidate by refraining from voting during the elections for the post of Vice President where Dhankar was the candidate from BJP.
