15 lakh fishermen of West Bengal will be covered under the insurance scheme-first time happening in the history of the state

Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:About 15 lakh fishermen of the state are being brought under the insurance scheme. For this reason, registration is starting from November 1. Starting from that day, an application to withdraw this name can be submitted to the government camp. Fisheries Minister Biplab Roy Chowdhury said that the fishermen of Howrah and two Midnipur will be brought under this insurance in the initial phase. If covered by this insurance, the family of the concerned fisherman will get 5 lakh rupees in case of accidental death. If someone is injured, the fishermen will receive up to 50 thousand rupees for medical expenses. In some cases, there is a resource of up to 1 lakh rupees for treatment. He has also said that the state has taken this initiative keeping in mind the common fishermen in spite of thousands of economic tensions. I will tell the fishermen, come to the government camp in Duar and register your names.According to the sources of the state government, the demand for photo identity cards for the fishermen of Bengal has been going on for a long time. While a few sporadically have photo IDs, most do not. Due to natural reasons, the state government does not have any complete information about fishermen and fish farmers. But every year the benefits of various government schemes are distributed among the fishermen. That is why the state will conduct the registration process of fishermen through government camp in Duar.Based on this, each fisherman will be given a pictorial identity card made of PVC with a barcode. In future only registered fishermen and fish farmers will get the benefits of government schemes.
