Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said for a veteran journalist,P.Ramaiah, truth has been his ideal and ideology, and he is a ‘Tapasvi’ in the field of journalism.
He was speaking after releasing ‘Nanu Hindu Ramaiah’, a work on the experience of Ramaiah and published by Abhimani Prakashana at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday,he said Ramaiah is an honest scribe and he has told truth lovingly but still there is lot of information in him which he has has told anywhere. This shows his courtesy.
He has been a witness to many incidents that had taken place in the State and has seen the second generation of politicians and third generation of journalists.
He could have sensationalized it to bag an award but what he has written is only reality. He is a true journalist.
Many will feel sad if truth is written but everyone will take it sportingly if constructive criticism is made.
“Thinking and personality of some people will change but the personality of Ramaiah has remained the same.
He is close to several chief ministers.Earlier,we were calling the scribes as poor journalists but now that word is not used as time has changed”.
A clean hand journalist
The CM said Ramaiah is a clean hand journalist. Reporters and journalists are not the same, but journalists and news producers are different. Ramaiah’s personality is very unique.
They will be innocent in childhood but change as they grow. But Ramaiah’s innocence has not changed even today because he always works by conscience.
He might have faced several challenges but he has never compromised when writing truth and reality.
My father,Ramakrishna Hegde and M.P.Prakash had a good friendship with Ramaiah, and I have grown listening to them.It is very important for journalists to understand the limits and effects of his writing.
Ramaiah was l closely associated with The Hindu newspaper for a long time. That newspaper is known for its values and has played a lead role in pre and post independence era.
The articles written by Ramaiah on irrigation and energy are still preserved for its treasure of information.
Ramaiah is an asset of Karnataka and we need to learn many things from his writing. He has always worked for society and his book showcases the contemporary politics, life of people and social scenario.
This book will inspire the students. Let Ramaiah continue to guide politicians and journalists”.
