He addressed the students at an event at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.There he said that India’s employment situation has reached an alarming level now. The government should immediately take appropriate action on the matter. As an economist, Rajan is known as a critic of the Modi government. He said at IIM Ahmedabad that India is the fifth largest economy in the world. Now this is the high time to concentrate more, and all focus should be given on employment generation. All the jobs that require more people should create such industries. Rajan said, keeping in mind the population of the country, we must build such industries or institutions where employment of many people is possible at the same time. Rajan also said that the way people are leaving agriculture and turning to jobs and construction is not good at all for the country’s economy.Rojgar Mela was organized recently to create employment in the country. But Rajan also expressed doubts about how much employment can be created by organizing such a fair. He thinks that only looking at the construction sector is not the solution to the problem. Apart from the construction sector, the government should also focus on making other sectors stronger
