Lokayukta cops arrested Taluk health officer for demanding bribe from doctor for license to start Hospital

The Lokayukta officials on Monday arrested Taluk Health Officer for demanding bribe from a doctor who had applied for a license to start a hospital.

The accused officer Dr.Manjunath was arrested from his office after the officials arrested his senior District Health officer,Dr.Niranjan while accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000.

Dr.Niranjan was caught red handed in his car while he was receiving the bribe amount in his car near ISKCON temple on Saturday.

He was later booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and remanded to Judicial custody.

According to the lokayukta officials the duo had demanded one lakh from Dr.Kashi Vishwanath Sellappan,who wanted to start a hospital and applied online to get the license .

Despite completing the formalities and paid the prescribed fee,the duo who are competent authority to issue license,demanded the bribe.

Dr. Sellappan,discussed this matter with his friend Yogeshwar Gowda who approached the Lokayukta police and filed the complaint and based on which both DHO and THO has been arrested under prevention of corruption act.
