male leopard,aged around seven years was killed after being run over by an unidentified vehicle on Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway on Monday.
The incident occurred close to Kempanahalli near Ramanagar in the wee hours.Passers-by found the Leopard lying near the divider in a pool of blood with head injury,alerted the police at around 6.30 am.
The forest officials rushed to the spot and shifted the leopard to vet hospital for post mortem.
The leopard was trying to cross the highway when speeding vehicle run over the animal .
Though there are passage and underpass constructed at the specific locations,the wild animals are yet to get used to crossing the highway,a forest official said.
The forest department officials are meeting with the official concerned to minimize such accidents and further investigation is on to identify the vehicle and its owner a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
