Officials of the Central Crime Branch in a special drive carried out raids on three cafes in the city serving hookah to its customers illegally.
Based on a tip off,three teams of police raided Kashish cafe,Burnout cafes and Emirates Sheesha hotel and restaurants in JB Nagar,commercial street and Madiwala and seized the hookahs, flavored tobacco and cash.
The officials also booked the manager and the staff under various sections of Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act .
The CCB officials launched a campaign against the hookah bars mushrooming in the city,encouraging the youth and getting them addicted to tobacco and drugs and indirectly encouraging anti social activities
The City police commissioner in his review meeting expressed concern over the hookah bars and directed the official concern to take action which are harming the health of the society .
