Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari fell ill after coming to Bengal to lay the foundation stone of the road. Seeing that the situation was dire, he was taken down from the event stage and taken to Darjeeling MP Raju Bist’s house. This heavyweight minister of the center is undergoing treatment there. It is known that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi after receiving this news. Nitin Gadkari came to the state on Thursday to lay the foundation stone of the long four-lane road from Siliguri’s Cantonment Road to Sevak. The foundation laying ceremony was organized at Dagapur Football Ground near Darjeeling Junction in Siliguri. The Union Minister reached that foundation at around 11 am. After a while he got up to give a speech. Gadkari suddenly started feeling sick after giving some speech. He was immediately taken to the green room next to the stage. Doctors came running. According to sources, the Union Minister suddenly fell ill due to hypoglycemia. But as the initial treatment did not ease his physical discomfort, Gadkari was taken to Darjeeling’s BJP MP Raju Bist’s house in Matigara. Three famous doctors of Siliguri were called there. However, after some time of treatment, it is known that he feels somewhat healthy now.
