Alert security personnel of Karnataka State Industrial Security Force caught a 25-year-old under trial trying to smuggle two mobile batteries into the prison.
The accused Syed Ruman,arrested in a kidnap and rape charges by Pulakeshinagar police two years ago since then he was lodged in central prison as Under trial no. 9538/2020 .
On Wednesday Ruman was taken to the court for physical production for trial escorted by City Armed Reserve personnel and brought back by 6 pm.
While undergoing security check at main gate,the security personnel recovered two mobile batteries concealed by Ruman.
He was handed over to the Jurisdictional police along with the seized items for further investigations.
The Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case against him under various sections of the Karnataka Prisons (Amendment) Act and are investigating.
Police are now on the lookout for the phones which needed the batteries said a senior prison official.
