The Nelamangala police on Wednesday opened fire at habitual offender who was trying to flee from the custody after attacking police personnel who was escorting him to a crime scene .
The accused Yogananda sustained bullet injury on his leg and was shifted to a private hospital along with the injured constable Hanumantha Hipparagi.The duo was out of danger and recovering.
Yogananda having 18 criminal cases pending against him was arrested in a robbery case.He was bring escorted to a crime scene for spot inspection.
The accused picked up a hallow brick and attacked the police personnel in a bid to escape.Inspector Shashidhar who accompanied him,warned him to surrender and fired in the air before firing at his leg to stop him from fleeing.
The police have registered another case against Yogananda for assaulting government servant while on duty and investigating.
