Little-known outfit IRC claims responsibility for Mangaluru blast,sends threatening letter to ADGP Alok Kumar,probe ordered

The State police stepped up probe to check on an outfit Islamic Resistance Council (IRC) claimed responsibility for the Mangaluru blast on November 19, saying one of its ‘Mujahid brother Mohammed Shariq’ attempted to attack a ‘Hindutva Temple in Kadri’.  

The police sources said they are verifying the origin of this information and sought the help of cyber crime officials to track down the source of the letter.

A one paged letter claiming that they wanted to target Kadri temple situated in Mangaluru having a bastion of the Saffron terrorists in Mangaluru.

The letter also warned Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order),Alok Kumar with dire consequences and said that the attack on the religious places will continue .

On November 19,Mohammed Shariq,who was at large,was travelling in an auto-rickshaw with a cooker which exploded in Mangaluru injuring him and the driver.

Police called the blast an act of terror.Meanwhile the central investigating agencies are probing the trail of Shariq and visited the places including relatives house where the Shariq had visited.
