he state government has released a grant of Rs.10 crore to prevent the spread of a pest which has attacked the areca plants towards preventive measures and the money will be provided to Chikmagalur,Shivamogga and other Malanad areas, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He told reporters on his arrival at Hariharapura Helipad on Sunday that the government has sent a team of University to study pest.Already,a team of experts from the central government has conducted study in Chikmagalur.
Since the pest spreads from one tree to another due to rain and wind the pesticide will be sprayed for the removal of fungus.
All recommendations made by scientists to take preventive steps to check the spreading of the pest will be duly followed by the government.
Replying to a question,Bommai said the government has taken the assault on Mudigere BJP MLA M.P.Kumaraswamy and directed the SP to provide all facilities and to take up the probe from all angles.
