Two school children electrocuted while trying to catch pigeons in Bengaluru

wo school children sustained severe burn injuries when they came in contact with live wire while trying to catch pigeons near their house after school hours on Thursday.

The injured identified as Suprith,11,and Chandan, 13, both residents of Vijayanandanagar .

Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the duo are students of Government Primary School in Nandini Layout.

After returning home from the school the duo went to play in the area.They saw a few pigeons on the terrace of the houses in the area.

The duo decided to catch the pigeons and climbed the terrace carrying an iron rod. While they were trying to catch the pigeons the iron rod they were carrying may have come in contact with the high tension wire and got electrocuted.

The residents and parents rushed the injured boys to Burns Ward at Victoria hospital.One boy has sustained around 60 percent burn injuries while another has sustained around 35-40 percent burns.

Nandini Layout police said the parents are yet to file a complaint. Bescom officials visited the spot and collected details about the incident.
