Ci ty police commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy along with senior police officials held a meeting with the bike and taxi aggregators and food and goods delivery directing them to appoint a nodal officer to redress any issues of the customers and coordinate with the police round the clock .
The meeting was held on Saturday where Special Commissioner of Police ( traffic ),MA Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police,Sandeep Patil, Joint commissioner of police,Dr SD Sharanappa, MN Anucheth and Raman Gupta were present and issued necessary directions .
The meeting was held in the background of a 23-year-old woman from Kerala was allegedly gang-raped by a Rapido taxi driver and his associate on November 25.
The aim of the meeting is to ensure the safety of people especially women and children who are availing the services from the transport aggregators and delivery firms.
Probe revealed that the accused despite having criminal cases pending against him continue to work as driver of bike taxi .
Adding to the worst the company has not done its due diligence in getting his background checked before hiring which according to a senior police officer is mandatory as per the recruitment policies .
The Electronic city police probing the case,issued notice to Rapido seeking explanation based on which legal action and recommendation to the transport department would be initiated,CK Baba, DCP, Southeast, said .
Mr. Reddy while giving strict directions to ensure that all the company to ensure background checks of their employees,he also said that the company should mandatorily have the detailed of the employees and get minimum two KYC documents from the employees for documentation along with the copies of the vehicle they were using .
Mr. Reddy also reiterated that the company should have some feed back technology to response from the customer about the service ,time taken and any remarks .
This will no only instil a sense of commitment to the driver but also ensure safety of the passengers to a large extent.
Mr. Reddy also said that the company should display emergency no of 112 and display stickers in their App to create awareness .
The delivery firms have been advised to ensure foolproof safety and ensure they are not delivery banned or contraband items.
The delivery executives should be given training on etiquette while dealing with the members of general public and customers and ensure they should adhered to the traffic rules .
The company ensure the uniform and the ID cards of the employees are not misused.The city police also assured that the delivery staff will be helped by the police if they are under attacks and victims of robbery or mugging .
